Charcoal Pencil

12"x9"

I made this quick sketch of one of my students as an example and much to my surprise it came out pretty decent. It is always a little nerve wracking when I draw in front of my students as I have this fear that what I make will really suck and I won't be able to get my point across. For someone who does not normally work with the figure this drawing makes me want to draw people more than I currently do.

Do you think doing a lot of landscapes has made it easier to come back to a portrait? I find if I leave some project alone for awhile, when I come back to it, I have a fresh perspective on it.

That is true Sam, I feel the same way about the Marine of the warship. They feel fresh. P
