I am an interdisciplinary artist and printmaker, living in Vermont since 1994. Inspired by the natural landscape I use imagination and memory to look beyond realism to make a statement about the pastoral landscape tradition in the 21st century. Summer River
Water cuts the earth
and goes
where its will takes it.
This is my first attempt at making a watercolor painting in many years. Since I started the MFAIA program at Goddard I have worked almost exclusively in black and white as I wanted to step back from the work of my recent past and rethink what I have been doing.
It has been a great experiment so far and all of this next semester I plan to do all of my sketches with watercolor and pen until the cold of December freezes my water in the field. What will prove really interesting is what kind of effect this has on my prints, especially the monoprints.
