2-Plate Monotype

This print is the first of what I hope to be many experiments with two plates. First I created the black and white print and then I eyeballed the color for the second print. The registration of the two plates is almost perfect but the blue color does not match up as well as I would have liked. Regardless, my students were impressed and the overall feel of the print is what I was hoping for.

This print was made from my memory of the Green River Reservoir prints that I have shown here in the recent past. The machine marks on the copper plate buffed out from the pressure of the press and it is a better effort than my first print of the morning.

This print was pulled at a class I taught last weekend at the Whitewater Gallery in East Hardwick, Vermont. The copper I used was new and had a few machine lines that picked up ink and the pressure was not right on my little press. In general it was not my best effort as I was explaining my process while I worked.
