Church in Plainfield

Went for a walk along the old railroad tracks between Plainfield and Marshfield.  There was some parts that were flooded and washed out after Hurricane Irene, but it was not that bad.  Found this nice view from an old hay field looking towards Route 2.  The sun was shining the day after the hurricane with wonderful clouds and a freshly hayed field.

Finally finished a proof of this print and I am unsure if I like the combination of techniques.  The drypoint was a struggle as was the alignment of four carborundum plates.  There were a few 'lesser' proofs of all four colors left and this was the best of the batch that I pulled off my press last night.  It is growing on me as the morning progresses...

Lake Groton

So there I was, sitting on a rock on the shore of Lake Groton making a little sketch. Suddenly, a jet ski zooms by a little close and the waves splashed up onto me and ruined my sketching mojo. This drawing had a huge water stain from the running ink and I might have worked on it with more enthusiasm if not for this unfortunate encounter with a high-speed watercraft. Thank the gods for white-out.

I am not as happy with this one as some of the others. The noon sun was hot and it made for these muted contrasts, which made it hard for me to separate most of the trees and bushes. The clouds and sky are nice enough...
