Permanent Marker on Frosted Vellum

6 5/8" x 4 5/16"

I have decided to try to burn a line drawing like this on a solar plate without the mezzotint screen. Hopefully this will etch well and have more of the feel of a traditional line etching. It will be a new challenge to wipe the plate and if it prints well I may try an additional experiment and order some larger plates.

Monotype

7" x 5"

This was the last print of the evening and once again I tried to clear my mind and work from my imagination. It is very simple but there is something playful about this little print that reminds me that I am on the right path.

Two-Plate Solar Etching

4 3/4" x 6 3/4"

I pulled three more images off of these two plates and decided to post this one again. The color fade came out really well even though the registration is not 100 percent.

Solar Etching

4 1/8" x 5 7/8"

Another printmaker looked at the plate after I pulled the last print and wondered if there was enough ink left to pull a "ghost" and I created this neat little print. It has the feeling of an old photograph or something that you might find in a mysterious trunk in an attic.

Solar Etching

4 1/8" x 5 7/8"

After I pulled the very dark first print I made an effort to over wipe the plate. There is a little bit of open-bite effect but in general this is a haunting little print that capture the mood of early evening just before the stars come out.

Solar Etching

4 1/8" x 5 7/8"

This is the first proof off of this plate and at first the image seemed dark and unclear. But after looking at the prints I have decided to burn a color plate and try another 2-plate solar image.
