Destiny Bay

October 20, 2014
Monoprint
16"x12"

This series of prints, with its limited palette seems to capture this sense of nostalgia that I have been looking for recently in the landscape. Almost like the early work of Samuel Palmer, with its use of brown and yellow, almost as if something is missing that cannot be found. Pulled this print from a sketch made this summer while hiking in Cutler, Maine this summer.

This print is taken from a drawing I did this summer while on vacation in Maine. Spent several days unplugged and had near perfect weather, including when it rained. My current color scheme seems to capture the nostalgia for summer and the memory of not having a schedule...

Little Machias

October 9, 2014
Monoprint
12"x16"

Last week I was working the large press at Studio Place Arts in Barre and continued this series of mono-prints with a limited palette. Four prints were pulled, two of them ghosts of the main plate, with this being my favorite of the bunch. The muted greys seem to capture the memory of Maine from my last visit as it was mostly overcast with periods of rain.

This is the second round of prints in this series and I waited too long from my last session at SPA on the big press. I plan to up the intensity of the yellow and need to be patient while working the plate. Next week I will be back at it and plan to continue with this larger mono-prints with a limited palette.

Please click on the poster for a larger view. I will be showing my prints and hanging scrolls at the Hartness Library on the Vermont Technical Center campus in Randolph, Vermont from October 14, 2014 to January 5, 2015. This may be the last time I exhibit the hanging scroll print series in a public forum.
