Steamroller Print II

September 26, 2010

Monoprint

4.75"x7.5"

This print worked a little bit better without the electric blanket. We used an actual steamroller to print these plates. It was interesting, but it would have worked better with decent printmaking paper that was slightly damp. The acrylic ink used was also not ideal, but for someone who wanted to pull really big monotypes, this is an interesting idea.

Monoprint

4.75"x7.5"

This was the first of two prints pulled using a steamroller outside the Fitchburg Museum of Fine Art this Sunday. The workshop organizers used an electric blanket, which left marks on the print.

Silkscreen proof

Made this tracing paper silkscreen as a demo for my students yesterday. The registration was a bit of a problem, but considering I have not made a silkscreen since 1984 I am pretty pleased with the results. That and my students watched the process from start to finish for when they make their own next week.

Pulled a proof of this old block as a demonstration for my students. This is one of my favorite carvings on a found piece of wood.

No. 2 pencil

3.5"x5.5"

Went to Maine with the family for a mini vacation and had fantastic weather. Spent some quality beach time with my boys and had the opportunity to sneak out and make a couple of sketches and poems.

Sunset,

behind a salt-marsh view.

Too many people,

spoil the view.
