I am an interdisciplinary artist and printmaker, living in Vermont since 1994. Inspired by the natural landscape I use imagination and memory to look beyond realism to make a statement about the pastoral landscape tradition in the 21st century. Monotype on Copper
5"x7"
This image was done from my memory of a Ralph Albert Blakelock painting I had viewed at the Robert Hull Fleming Museum in Burlington, Vermont.
There is a bit of magic in this one and I was filled with a great sense of amazement when I lifted the paper off the press and viewed the image for the first time. For a brief moment I forgot the troubles of the world and was filled with the joy of creation.

Plastic Factory Woodblock II
June 12, 2006
Oak Woodblock
5"x7"
Here is the first state of the Ray Plastic Factory woodblock. The plate printed nicely but will need some more carving before I am ready to start a color block. A furniture maker friend of mine told me that the plate is a piece of oak, a wood that I have never carved before. Cherry is till the best as the straight oak grain splinters in an odd way. The even and strong grain of the cherry tree is still the best surface for carving and printing.
