I am an interdisciplinary artist and printmaker, living in Vermont since 1994. Inspired by the natural landscape I use imagination and memory to look beyond realism to make a statement about the pastoral landscape tradition in the 21st century. VT Yankee Series 1
July 25, 2012
Monotype
6"x9"
Went to SPA in Barre last night and had this grand idea of what I wanted to print but had to scrap my original idea. This was going to be another attempt at a Rorschach landscape but it proved problematic and printed it as a lone image.
At the end of the night I came up with three decent prints and have decided to not use this as a template for a blockprint, but will work into the original drawing as source material for a carving.
The third print in this series is starting to become interesting as the color and agitated marks are starting to get at the core of the message I have had in my head. The original working title for this series is 'Tritium Leaks' but these prints are not quite where I want them to be.

Monotype

With this one I worked right into the ghost of the first print with the goal of leaving enough ink on the plate for the third print. That worked, but what happened is i reverted to this proto-cubist style of constructing the picture that was a little surprising. At first I did not like it but it is growing on me...

Early Snow (proof)
July 24, 2012
Block print
4'x5"
Pulled a couple of proof prints of this block and am very pleased. I need to carve a little bit in the sky and some of the trees as a few lines are a little heavy. Plan to design and start to carve the color block this weekend if time permits. Also pulled 17 color prints for a small edition of another block, should pull the key block over the small run this weekend as well.

Pencil on paper
3.5"x5.75"
I was on vacation this weekend at my sister-in-laws family lake house. The views were not very dramatic and peppered with lake-houses, but this came out rather well in the end. Wrote down a few words as well...
